A shoutout to former artist-in-residence Shruti Swamy who has a new piece, “Endarkment,” in the latest edition of McSweeney’s.
Swamy's essay is a tender meditation on the body and its mysteries. “Funny thing, the body,” she writes. “It can change its mind.” Moving between her present moment and memories of girlhood in the garden, Swamy navigates loss around loved ones, and along the way, asks questions that linger: “Where is the ‘me’ in all of this? Can I want something my body does not?”
Congratulations Shruti!
